About us

Meet your Host

We have lived in Shasta County our entire lives, and residents of Lakehead since 2010. We absolutely love it here, we are a very active family. We love traveling, camping, hiking, boating, riding our ATV's anything outdoors. When we first drove down our road to view the property I told my husband it reminding me of that camping feeling... the breeze, the smell, sound of the birds chirping. I fell in love before we even reached the house. Now we are happy to share this Gem with other families wanting to get outside and explore this beautiful place we call home.

Thank you for viewing our website and hope to host you soon!

Information

Don't forget to plan ahead!

WEATHER: Be sure to check the weather before you come -

Here is the weather link for Lakehead:   10 Day Forecast

Make sure you pack accordingly! The weather can change quickly in the mountains, so be prepared. If the power goes out we have a generator that should automatically kick on, if we notice it didn’t we will come down to turn on. One thing to be aware of during the winter season is if it snows heavily here and you are unable to get out of the parking lot my husband can come make tracks with our truck or shovel snow, this is if the county has cleared the main Road to our gate. In the event that Gilman Road hasn’t been cleared or been driven on yet, then we are gladly happy to have you stay warm and safe at the house until you are able to leave safely. If the generator is on then please conserve the water because once it runs out there will be no water until the power is back on. This is a shared well with the neighbors but they do not have a generator so the well doesn’t pump. Their guests have been asked to conserve as well.

FIRES AND SMOKING: Due to several fires over the past few years in Shasta County, it’s a good idea to check current conditions and/or closures before coming. Here are a couple of helpful sites for fire conditions:

Check for fires in the area here are 2 links: Fire Indecent Link     or      Shasta/Trinity Forest Service

SUPPLIES: North on I-5 about 4 miles is the small town of Lakehead, which has a medium sized grocery store, gas station with a Subway, a couple of restaurants, a bar called the Basshole (for burgers and pool tables - a fun local spot), Klub Klondike and Lakeshore Inn are a couple of other bar/restaurants (I would always check to make sure food is being served, for this changes during the seasons), for breakfast there is a little place called Camp Shasta Coffee Co. To get to Lakehead, go back to I-5, cross over the freeway and turn right. Take your first right under the freeway and take a left to get on the I-5. Coming back, watch the signs for the Gilman exit or you’ll have to drive about 6 miles to turn around. *We recommend you buy supplies in Redding on your way to the house for a much better selection and better prices*. Redding has pretty much everything you could ever want or need: great restaurants, fast food, Target, Walmart, WinCo, Trader Joe’s, Costco, etc.
